Through a huge transition, I put it all on the line. In building a career and creating the life for my family that I dreamed of, I learned an important lesson.
As I saw another round of layoffs at work, I realized it was time to do something. Our income had already plummeted because of The Great Recession, and to make it through, I decided to do something bold.
I became a licensed REALTOR® in 2011 after 17 years in the title industry. Over my 17 years there, I worked with thousands of real estate professionals from all parts of the industry - builders to lenders to REALTORS®. While it seemed a little extreme at the time to start a new career with no savings or backup plan, I jumped in as a full-time REALTOR® right from the start.
I attribute a lot of my success to my wife, Cynthia. She has been hugely supportive of me over the decades we have shared. Becoming a REALTOR® was no different, and I would not have been able to do it without her.
2011 was a tough time for a lot of people with the economy just starting to recover, and my family was no exception. For a few years money was tight. We did not spend much on anything at all, and Cynthia started her own painting business that later led to her interior design career. We even rented out part of our house to a tenant just to make ends meet. No matter what, we always found a way to make it work.
It has always been important to us that we are here for our children, and during those early days of my business, I did all I could from home or while they were in school. However, there were a lot of weekends and evenings that I spent out building my career. It was difficult to find a balance between both worlds. It's still a constantly shifting equilibrium, but family is what drives me.
Cynthia and I always took the time to make our children breakfast in the morning and sit down to dinner at night. I have gone to every school and sporting event that I could because every single one of those moments matter the big ones and the little ones. Each are important, but those little moments are the glue that hold it all together.
It has not always been perfect, especially because real estate is a 24/7 job, but even in those chaotic early days, I found brief moments to pause. I found that while speed is great, consistency and commitment count for a lot more.
I have competed in extreme sports for most of my life and enjoy pushing my body to see how far I can go. Over the years, I have done half marathons and cycling climbs for various charitable organizations, which are the perfect combination of two things I love sports and helping others.

We are all trying to do our best each day, and that is a constantly evolving standard all its own. Somewhere along the way I realized exactly that - your best is what you make of it. Where you are in life and all the million other circumstances constantly change that "best" target. Like a marathon, everyone comes with their own version of what is best. I do not strive to come in first. Instead, I just strive to do better, because my best is to be always building and improving.
When I am not working, I enjoy distance cycling and relaxing at home with my family. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is seeing the joy on my clients' faces as we cross the finish line we set out for together.
Whether you are buying or selling a home, you are looking for support. I have been a licensed REALTOR® for over a decade and built my career during one of the worst markets. Combined with my 17 years of experience in title, I understand this industry and how to help you succeed in any market. I am a Denver native and know the communities here inside and out. It is important to me that you have everything you need to make the best decision possible, which is why I will take the time to answer your questions and ensure you have all the information you need. Real estate can get complicated, and unexpected obstacles are likely to come up. However, I prioritize my clients and will do everything I can to provide a smooth transaction from start to finish. With extensive experience in residential real estate, I am confident I can help you get where you want to be. Once the transaction is over, I will continue supporting you and your goals as your lifelong REALTOR®.
Sincerely,
